Romeo Character Sketch Essay, Research Paper
Romeo was a young man that matured to adult hood. He cherished solitude and night always keeping to the darkness and the night, revealing in sorrow, tears, secrecy, and being alone. Romeo was pensive and pale, and always sad. He wrote poetry of love and lovers, of what he has not known of, other than what he has read in the books he accumulates. Romeo had become in love with love; speaking of it as a religion picturing love filled only with sorrow and pain. No happiness, just the fear of learning to love then having to let go.
Romeo then met Juliet at the Capulet s house and that in loving her he discovered that joy, not sadness, is a part of life. Romeo began pondering, This love I feel, that feel no love is this. When he first laid eyes on her. Romeo s not only a courtly, carefree young man, but is capable of the deepest passions of love. It was at that moment that Juliet have fallen head over heels for Romeo, I ll look to like, if looking liking move; But no more deep will I endart mine eye, Than your consent gives strength to make it fly Romeo, at that moment took no hesitation or complete lack of conflict in any matter. The utter commitment with which he abandoned himself was the intense swift motion that distinguishes him as a lover.
When Romeo came into contact with Tybalt insulting him, he was bound by a love for Juliet that was so strong that did not permit fighting and about Tybalt being a relative of his challenger. Love had then shown that it had taken him away from the world. That at no time would Romeo fight his new relative because he was so bound for Juliet. You are a lover bound by Cupids Wings and soar with them above a common ground. screams Mercutio.
Romeo s ability to die for his love for Juliet came as no surprise. After the wedding night in the Friars cell, he was willing to risk his life to stay in Verona if Juliet had wished. Romeo then finds out that Juliet is dead. Then she is well, and nothing can be ill. Her body sleeps in Capel s monument, and her immortal part with angels lives. This is the message that was sent by Balthasar to inform Romeo. Romeo then screams, Is it e en so? Then I defy you, stars! With this Romeo is taking his fate in the palm of his hands. He does not pause, but with his courage he goes out to search his love in death.
Love has become life for Romeo, and he believing without Juliet there can be nothing but death in living. Romeo had grown up, but his whole identity has lied in loving. He had not longer been one with the world but taken away, and had come to care for nothing for its trappings or pain. He had matured into a pure lover. Juliet had become the light of day in darkness to him. He compared her to the sun, moon and stars.
When Romeo arrived at the tomb, he had become so into planning on killing himself that he was given by death already. Romeo would have rather had just one touch of her hand, one touch of her lips than lived an eternity without her. He said his goodbyes that were hardly goodbyes since he had already been taking away by Cupids Arrow, by being so in love. His goodbye seemed like his greetings to Juliet, because he was so determined to join her and wanted to be with her.
Here s to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die With this, Romeo took a potion that would end his life forever and take him to the next world in which he would find Juliet.
At that moment his love was like no other. It was something so emotionally powerful and exuberant that he would do anything to be in the arms of his lover, Juliet. . . even if it cost him his life.
