Owen Meany lived his life to the fullest and lived to make the people that he loved happy. John gets accepted to attend University of New Hampshire and Owen follows John. Owen follows him for the reason that he feels John cannot cope with University and he feels he needs to be there to assist him. When John received the conscription letter from the government, Owen knew that John was not going to survive and offers to cut off his trigger finger, preventing him from going to war. They go through with the amputation and resulting in John s life being saved. Owen dies as he saw in his dream, with Vietnamese children and with John at his side he is killed by Dick Jarvits. The children are saved thanks to Owen s quick reaction. Owen always put the priority of people s needs before his own and as a result of his love not religion e saved lives just as he dreamt.
