Essay, Research Paper
Being a Star Wars fan for many years, I was greatly interested in the upcoming prequels (Episodes I, II and III). So, when Episode I was released, I was at the theater the opening day and I was just absolutely mesmerized. The movie was like a fine quilt, beautiful in color, smooth and comfortable. As the main theme and the familiar Star Wars title sequence began, I knew I was in for a great movie that would be full of action, adventure, comedy and drama.
I would like to commend George Lucas and his team at Lucas Film Ltd. For an excellent job on producing this movie. The plot was just stupendously written and all-star cast, which includes Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, and the voice for Yoda, Frank Oz. In particular, the scenery in Episode I captured me.
With scenes in the desert, forests and in space, Episode I takes you on a roller coaster ride through different scenes and habitats. In my opinion, this change of scenery keeps the audience from getting bored and to keep them interested in the movie. However, not all scenes were shot on location. Many, such as the Royal Palace on Naboo, were created by ILM, the computer graphics division of Lucas Arts. Other CG scenes include the senate meeting, the pod race in the desert and all the scenes in space and the space battles. ILM also created characters such as Jar Jar Binks and the Trade Federation Army droids. Special effects play a major factor in movies, especially one of this caliber.
Along with scenery, music is also important in a movie?s out come. John Williams wrote the original score for the first three films and has returned for the next three. The music in this movie adds a sense of conflict and emotion that is needed when the acting isn?t enough.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the Star Wars team on the final battle between Darth Maul, Obi-Wan and Qui Gon Jinn. This sequence was so artfully taken that the fight seemed real. The actors put a lot of emotion into the fight that its final out come had major impacts on the audience.
In conclusion, I give this movie a 4.7. It missed points from lost background knowledge on who Qui Gon Jinn was and what was happening in the galaxy at the time. All in all, this is a great movie and it will live on for generations.
May the force be with you?
