Gilgamesh Essay, Research Paper
Gilgamesh was not a brave leader. Enkidu helped Gilgamesh through his journey and without him, Gilgamesh would not have survived. I would not like to be the partner of Gilgamesh because he was a coward and he is more human and vulnerable than a god and powerful.
Gilgamesh ran into conflict and bravado. He boasted to Uruk of how powerful he was and how prepared he was to fight. However, when Humbaba charged at Gilgamesh from his house, Gilgamesh had to call upon Shamash with tears in his eyes. Shamash detained Humbaba yet Gilgamesh was almost deceived by him to free him and let Humbaba be his slave. Enkidu made Gilgamesh realize that he was being deceived. Then Gilgamesh and Enkidu killed Humbaba.
Gilgamesh was also greedy for eternal life. He could not be looked upon as a hero today, but as a sidekick or the shadow of a hero. I would not like to be the partner, like Enkidu, of Gilgamesh because a leader is someone who you can put your trust into and Gilgamesh is not one of those people.
