“As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.” — Albert Einstein
Mathematics is the language which allows us to turn into reality and determine regular laws. Scince the Rennaissance man has questioned the authority of a theological knowlwdge, and they started to give more importance to the experimental knowledge. The perception of a new world, which the discoveries gave us, put on the line the classic conceptions. Starting with Gallileu but especially scince Newton the attemp of explaining mathematically the universe was an inniciative which led to the scientific knowledge. Positivating the reality is not necessaraly the reality, it is mearly an attempt, that from a group of pre-defined principles, deduce one type of perception of reality. Concluding; an abstraction. The mathematical laws permit us to generalize the concrete experiments. It is certain that Einstein understood natures laws as the language of God, and because God is everything, that means the natural laws are essentially the reality.
The theory of knowledge put on the line the absolute character of scientific knowledge. In scientific knowledge the objectivity traduces into the internal coherance of the deductive thought; departing from the pre-difined principles: Principles of which are relative to the structure of the human thought, principles which originate from mathematical language and finally, the principles of the experimentation itself. Mathematics is a formal abstract language and not reality itself .In this way we return to the perplexity of Albert Einstein, in the 20th century. Effectively , “As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.”. This quote is not at all contradictory. Paradoxically, the phrase represents that even though God doesn t play with dice, there is a great uncertainty. This first certainty we have is that the reality is uncertain. This is a real confession of the limitation of the human knowledge. But the search for mathematical laws in nature, or patterns, even without translating reality are an essential thing for our knowledge and technology…
