"Chroming rose" являются одной из групп, исповедывающих традиционный немецкий металл. Оригинальный состав, собравшийся в 1985 году, включал в себя вокалиста по кличке Вотан, гитариста Матца Менде, басиста Харри Штейнера и барабанщика Тино Менде. Спустя два года Вотан куда-то исчез, а его место занял другой "безымянный" тип, которого все звали Ора. По прошествии еще пары лет фронтмена вновь поменяли, и теперь у микрофона стоял Герд Салевски. Тогда же в команде появился второй гитарист Эс Си Вуллер. Обновленному составу наконец-то удалось записать демку, благодаря которой можно было получить место под солнцем.
"Chroming rose" улыбнулась удача, и их принял под свою опеку лейбл "EMI". Свой первый альбом, "Louis XIV" команда записывала под предводительством Томми Хансена. Этот продюсер уже успел посотрудничать с " Helloween", и может быть поэтому саунд диска получился местами хелловинистый.
После выхода "Луи Четырнадцатого" ряды "Chroming rose" покинул Матц Менде, а его позицию занял Рикки Ригер из "Stranger". В 1990-м группа гастролировала в компании с "Pink cream 69" и " U.D.O.", а на следующий год открывала концерты "Saxon". По окончании туров коллектив отправился в студию все с тем же Томми Хансеном, в результате чего на свет появился второй альбом, "Garden of Eden". На следующем релизе, "Under pressure" в роли продюсера выступил Флемминг Расмуссен.
В 1992-м, по выходу этого альбома состоялись первые гастроли "Chroming rose", на которых коллектив выступил в роли хедлайнера. Команда прокатилась сначала по Японии, а потом – по родной Германии вместе со шведами "Treat". Чуть позже группа отыграла серию европейских концертов при поддержке бразильского "Viper" и добралась даже до Америки.
Но вскоре в коллективе начались проблемы и всякие неурядицы, закончившиеся выдворением Салевски. К тому времени контракт с "EMI" был утерян. Команда перегруппировалась в 1995-м году и вернулась к деятельности с новым вокалистом Томом Рейнерсом. Его дебют состоялся на концертнике "Art works live now", изданном на инди-лейбле "Miez records". На следующий год вышла новая студийная работа, "New world". Этот альбом уже не являлся "типично немецким спид-металлом", но все же сохранил некоторую индивидуальность "Chroming rose". На родине релиз был воспринят неоднозначно, зато в Японии, где его лицензировала JVC, он попал в чарты.
В Америке "New world" тоже был издан и был встречен неплохо. Ободренная команда провела большое турне, в течение которого отыграла более 80 концертов. Следующий диск, "Insight", вышел только в 1999-м, но зато он сопровождался лимитированным изданием "Gift", куда помимо самого альбома входил полуакустический EP "Private".
