Telescopes Essay, Research Paper
Telescopes????????? When you look through a telescope,
distant things seem nearer and bigger.?
Telescopes also help you to see things that are too faint to be seen by
the naked eye.? They can collect light,
rather as a bucket collects rainwater, and then funnels the light into the
eye.? Astronomers use telescopes to
explore the sky. ????????? The simplest telescope is a tube with
a lens at each end.? This kind is called
a refracting telescope.? The lens at the
front collects the light.? The one you
look through is called the eyepiece. ????????? A telescope that uses a curved mirror
to collect the light is called a reflector.?
The main mirror concentrates the light into another small mirror, which
then reflects it into an eyepiece.? ????????? No one knows for sure who invented the
telescope.? Hans Lippershey (a Dutch
spectacle maker) is usually said to have been the first.? In 1672 sir Isaac Newton announced that he
had made the first working telescope to use a curved mirror for collecting
light.
