1. Is the setting important to the story? Explain.
The setting in this book has no importance to the story because the several different places in which the character stays affects the story in no way. The story could easily be told in a completely different setting.
Characters
1. Describe the major character(s).
The main character in the story is a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. This is the ?far-wandering? hobbit that discovered the One Ring of Power and brought it back to the Shire. Another very important character in the story is Gandalf. Gandalf is a very powerful wizard who sow for his wondrous adventures. He was known for ding amazing things involving dragons, savage wolves, giant spiders and worse unknown dangers.
2. Describe the minor character(s).
Dwalin, Balin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, and Thorin were all dwarfs that helped Bilbo on his journey.
3. Explain which character is least likable. Why?
The least likeable character in this story is Bilbo. At times Bilbo can get very obnoxious. This is because he is a hobbit. It is naturally the way that he deals with things. I first noticed this in the beginning of the story when Gandalf went to Bilbo?s house to let Bilbo know hat
Plot
1. Identify the major climatic action in the reading.
The main conflict in this story is with out question the gaining of the lost treasure of the dwarves hoarded by Smaug.
2. What events lead up to the climax?
The main way that the climax is developed is by the use of small side quests. In this story, there are many small conflicts which add to the excitement of the story, such as the time when the dwarves and the hobbit are captured and taken down to the goblin?s lair.
3. Describe how the resolution was satisfactory or troublesome.
In this story, the resolution of the climax was satisfactory because it changed the main character for the better.
