The Hobbit
This is a prelude book to Lord of the rings. It starts in a place called Shire, as a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins meats a old friend again, a wizard named Gandalf the grey. The wizard is at the door not alone but with several Dwarfs. Bilbo greeted them all into his dwelling. Gandalf starts to tell him why they have come. Gandalf said that Bilbo The bugler was chosen for a quest with the dwarfs. Bilbo Baggins, a respected and unadventurious Hobbit didn’t like this at all. Hobbits didn?t adventure and never where going to adventure out of there homeland. So he was refused to go Gandalf and the Dwarfs. They went on talking abut Thorin’s grandfather and how the dragon took his gold. The next morning all were gone and dishes were left piled up they didn’t even say thanks. Gandalf came buy and told him to hurry the others were waiting on him. Bilbo asked Gandalf why they had not said any thanks, but they did and Gandalf showed him the note on the mantle that said thanks and we will be waiting for you in the morning. Gandalf hurried Bilbo to the dwarfs and they were off. Bilbo unhappy about this ill preperation wished he had his scarves and hats with him. The traveled some days and it rained day after day and finally they stopped, but couldn’t get a fire started and Gandalf had disappeared. The next day they crossed a river and lost the ponies and were feeling hopeless that night they came opon light in the trees and so they sent the bugler it was three trolls he attempted to steal from them and was caught and got away thrown to the trees and the others got caught. Gandalf came back and was dealing with the trolls and turned them to stone. Short on supplies then went to look for their cave. They found it there they obtained weapons of elven work man ship used to kill goblins. They then traveled to Rivendale the last homely home. Elrond a elf and prince of that land told them how and where to cross the Misty mountains. After there stay they headed for the Mountain. pass. After days they about reached the summit Giants where throwing rocks and it was raining. They looked for shelter and a cave that night they were attacked by goblins all taken in to there twisting caves to the great hall were the King was to do what he wished with them. Right before the king was going to kill them a flash of lighting exploded and the torches went out and the goblin King laid dead there on the ground. Gandalf quickly appeared from the flash and directed them the way out. The goblins finally caught up to them but the blades that the had gotten from the other cave hurt the goblins in a evil way and the goblins ran from them. The Dwarfs headed down and down through the caves. Then the Goblins sent there runners after them and Bilbo fell and was knocked out. He awoke and stumbled around in the dark for awhile and found something Bilbo found a golden ring and he quickly shoved it in his pocket. Bilbo walked on and found water and saw something coming at him two glowing spheres evenly spaced like eyes. It was a evil thing, named Gollum and it spoke to its self as if there was another person around, it kept saying “My precious.” Bilbo tricked the Gollum into having a riddling game with him, if Bilbo won then he would leave alive and if he lost then Gollum could eat him. They played the riddling game and they both guessed each others riddles correct. But Bilbo had a plan he ask the riddle, “What is in my pocket?” the Gollum stuttered and couldn’t figure it out. The Gollum left to go get something from his little island, but couldn’t find it the hobbit heard this and put on the ring. When the Gollum came back, he cussed and thought the hobbit knew the way and going to catch and kill him. Bilbo then followed Gollum. The Gollum lead him to the lower gate of the caverns. Were he had to squeeze out past the guards, he then found the dwarfs who had set up camp he snuck in they were all surprised that he was alive and had gotten past there guard.
