ALLEGED GANG LEADER ON FIRE
- An alleged gang leader is set alight after being shot by vigilantes, August 4. The incident has raised tensions on the crime ravaged Cape Flats as thousands of armed Moslem vigilantes vow to continue their campaign against drug dealers and gang members. The man later died and at least six people were injured as running gun battles ensued.
GANG FUNERAL: MONTREAL, QUEBEC
- The casket of one of the three Rock Machine bikers killed September 21 when a bomb they were carrying exploded prematurely, is carried following funeral services in Montreal October 10. Twenty-five people have died in Montreal in the last year and a half, as biker gangs stage a war over the city’s illegal drug trade.
