Frankenstien The Book Essay, Research Paper
Journal Chap. 24-end # 17
The end of the novel was left very open. I felt as though there is no conclusion. Where is the sequel? I think that Walton will not continue Victors quest to see the monster dead. The monster only had one reason to live, and that was to make Victor s life a living hell. Now that Victor is dead the monster no longer has any reason to live. The monster says at the end that because his creator is dead he will die too. Walton will most likely just let the monster disappear without confrontation. Possibly, if the monster does not die, and causes trouble elsewhere in the world, Walton will take it upon himself to finish Victors job.
I felt pity for the monster throughout the story. It was sad to see that someone must go through life with no companion and no one to talk with. It must be very difficult to figure out the ways of society when no one will explain them selves. I also felt bad for Victor, however he did bring his own misery upon himself. If Victor would have never created the monster he would be happy and married to Elizabeth.
Over all, I liked the book. It was an interesting story and very well written. After learning about the romantic period and all of the poetry, I thought that this was going to be a horrible book, however I was mistaken. I enjoyed it very much.
