5. Have the “cell membrane people” cut the large piece of plastic wrap in half and place each
piece on the table.
6. Have the “cytoplasm people” form 2 balls using the plain play-doh or clay. Lay 1 ball on
each piece of plastic wrap and press each into a “pancake” about 6″.
7. Instruct them to designate one pancake, “animal cell” and the other “plant cell”.
8. Have members of each group find the supplies they need to represent their cell structures,
cut, form, fold, paste, etc. until their structure is simulated. Then place the finished
structures in a pile on the center of the appropriate pancake. (Exception — cell wall)
9. When all of the cell parts are completed and in place, have someone in each group “gather
up” the pancake carefully cupping it around its “topping” and seal all of the edges together
forming a ball. Next have the “cell membrane people” wrap the plastic wrap around the
cytoplasm and have the “cell wall people” wrap the aluminum foil around the plant cell.
10. Depending on the length of time available, cells may be set aside for the next class period
or each may be cut in half with a large knife right away.
Materials: ^
Play-doh, food coloring or tempera paints (red, purple, green, blue), 1 pair disposable gloves,

Mitochondria 2 Essay, Research Paper Mitochondria Mitochondria are tiny organelles found in nearly all eukaryotic cells. They are rather large organelles ranging from 0.5+m to 10+m in length and 1+m in diameter. The mitochondria are the energy factories of the cell and are located in the cytoplasm. They are the sites of cellular respiration.
Sickle Cell Essay Research Paper What is
Sickle Cell Essay, Research Paper What is sickle cell anemia? Sickle cell anemia is an inherited disease of red blood cells. Normally red blood cells contain a protein called hemoglobin A, which carries oxygen to all the organs in the body. With sickle cell anemia, however, the body makes a different kind of protein, called hemoglobin S.

Cells Essay, Research Paper Cells Cells are some of the smallest organisms around. All living things consist of cells, and yet they are invisible to the naked eye. How and why are they so small? Well, cells are the basic structural and functional units of life. As life on earth has evolved into organisms of different species and living things, two basic laws of nature have dictated why cells have remained so small.
Osmosis Lab Report Essay Research Paper Diffusion
Osmosis Lab Report Essay, Research Paper Diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Diffusion results because of the random movement of particles. The diffusion of water into and out of a selectively permeable membrane is called osmosis.
Process Of Meiosis Essay Research Paper Meiosis
Process Of Meiosis Essay, Research Paper Meiosis is the reproduction of sex or germ cells in which there are two divisions required to complete the process. They are called meiosis I and meiosis II. In meiosis I, members of homologous pairs of chromosomes divide into two complete sets. There are four stages: prophase I, metaphase I, anaphase I, and telophase I.. -Prophase I is the first phase in meiosis I.

History Of Cell Membrane Essay Research Paper
In the early stages of the twentieth century, little was known about cell membranes. Until the early 1950s, the biological cell membrane was rarely mentioned in scientific literature. It was recognised that something was probably there, but hardly anything about it was known. Considering the lack of technical equipment available a century ago, scientists such as Charles Overton and Edwin Gorter were not only exploring new territory in looking at the properties of cell membranes, but laying the way for future cell biologists.
Cell Permeability Essay Research Paper Cell membrane
Cell Permeability Essay, Research Paper Cell membrane permeability refer to the crossing of the cell membrane by substances. Substances move into or out of the cell by crossing the cell membrane. Some substances cross the membrane very easily and the membrane is said to be very permeable to these substances; others move across with difficulty, while others are excluded completely.
Cell Structure And Function Essay Research Paper
CELL STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION All living things are made of the same basic building blocks, cells. A human is made of 65 trillion cells. Cells are everywhere, on you skin, in your blood, and even on your tongue. In fact, your blood is clear but red blood cells are what make your blood red. Most living things are made up of many cells but some are made of only one cell, like amebas, paramecium, fungi, protists, monerans, and bacteria.
