Poem: Flowers Essay, Research Paper
Lynn had never been serene like a glowing bright sky.
Always to occupied, like a busy fly.
Lynn met a powerful woman, who had some advice,
“Stop and smell the flowers, don’t scurry around like mice.”
Lynn was always meticulous, except that one fateful day.
She had to get to work on time,
She feared the loss of her pay.
“Oh my, my dress improperly sewed,
Oh dear” she thought about her work load.
Poor Lynn was so preoccupied,
That she let it all out and cried.
She did it right there on that road,
Thinking and walking like an ancient toad.
The Doctors said she was under stress,
She agreed more or less.
On the road the car hit poor Lynn
Her head had become tangled in a spin.
Beep, Beep, went the heart machine
Poor Lynn looked like a run-over Lima Bean.
She hadn’t taken the powerful woman’s advice,
Now she had to pay the price.
In her hospital room, appeared the powerful woman,
Lynn, knew that she was probably comin’
The woman had a few last words.
She appeared so peaceful, that she talked to love birds.
She repeated what she had previously said,
To poor Lynn in the uncomfortable bed,
“You could have been on top of everything
That would have given you a peaceful feeling,
I used to be like you, she said
I even ended up in this bed,
Till one day I stopped and smelled the flowers
And I received these great inner powers.”

Man Sized Job Essay Research Paper ManSized
Man Sized Job Essay, Research Paper Man-Sized Job was written by Sharlot Hall (1870-1943). It is a poem that defines a woman?s work from a man?s point of view. Poems like this were uncommon in the late 1800?s ? early 1900?s, especially if women wrote them. The two aspects of this poem that I would like to analyze are the vocabulary used and the male chauvinistic point-of-view.
