Введение
Bath Iron Works (BIW) — судостроительная верфь, расположенная на реке Кеннебек в Бате, штат Мэн (

(G) (O)). Верфь основана в 1884 году генералом Томасом В. Хайдом. С 1995 г. по настоящий 2008 год судоверфь Bath Iron Works является частью корпорации General Dynamics.
1. История
В период Второй мировой войны верфью было построено значительное число военных кораблей для ВМС США. Пик производства пришёлся на 1943—1944 гг., когда каждые 17 дней на верфи закладывался новый эсминец.
В 1981 году компания Falcon Transport заказала на верфи Bath Iron Works 2 танкера, которые стали последними коммерческими судами, построенными на этой верфи.
2. Современное строительство
На 2008 год основным заказом, выполняемым верфью, является строительство для ВМС США серии эсминцев с управляемым ракетным вооружением типа «Арли Берк». К 31 октября 2008 г. верфь построила 34 эсминца этого класса.
