Датская трэшевая банда "Artillery" появилась на свет в 1982 году в пригороде Копенгагена Таасрупе. Среди ее основателей значились два брата Стицера, Майкл (гитара) и Мортен (бас), а также Йорген Сандау (гитара) и Карстен Нильсен (ударные). Последним в команде появился вокалист Пер Онинкин, единственный среди коллег имевший опыт работы во многих других датских металлических группах. Правда, он же первым и ретировался после потасовки, произошедшей на одном из первых концертов.
Нового фронтмена коллектив получил в лице Карстена Лохманна. С ним "Artillery" выпустили пару неплохих демок, "Shellshock" и "Deeds Of Darkness", чем привлекли внимание андеграундной металлической прессы. Однако настоящий прорыв произошел с появлением в команде нового вокалиста Флемминга Ронсдорфа, обладавшего голосищем не хуже чем у самого Кинга Даймонда.
Стоило обновленному составу выпустить еще всего одно демо, как "артиллеристам" поступило предложение от английского лейбла "Neat Records". В 1985 году эта фирма выпустила дебютный альбом коллектива, "Fear Of Tomorrow". Релиз получил широкие отклики, и даже знаменитые шведские блэкеры "Bathory" пригласили Нильсена поучаствовать в сессиях одного из своих альбомов. В 1987 году на свет появилась еще одна студийная работа группы, "Terror Squad", ставшая классикой андеграундного трэша.
После этого "Artillery" помотались с гастролями по Европе и даже добрались до Советского Союза, став одной из первых тяжелых команд, попавших за "железный занавес". Советские металлисты пришли в неописуемый восторг, но все дело испортили власти, отправившие "Артиллерию" обратно до завершения тура.
По возвращении домой команду покинул Йорген Сандау. Пришлось Мортену Стицеру переключиться на гитару, а новым басистом стал Петер Торслунд. В это же время у группы начались проблемы с лейблом. Однако музыкантам повезло, и их взяла под свое крыло фирма "Roadrunner". С новым контрактом на руках "Artillery" успели выпустить всего лишь один альбом, "By Inheritance". Отношения в коллективе к тому моменту накалились, и первым хлопнул дверью Мортен, подавшись в "Furious trauma". Последовало много кадровых перестановок, и, в конце концов, группа развалилась.
Долгое время про "Artillery" ничего было не слышно, но в 1998 году фирма "Gutter" выпустила компакт "Deadly Relics", составленный из двух первых демо, что вызвало резонанс в металлических кругах. На этой волне братья Стицеры в компании с Ронсдорфом реанимировали свой старый проект. Постоянного ударника они не нашли, но в записи камбэка "B.A.C.K." принял участие Пер Йенсен.
