Catcher In The Ryeby J.D.Salinger

J.D.Salinger’s book Catcher In The Rye, is important because the book makes you feel why you are important in life. It also make you feel that life is not as complicated as in the book. I’m glad I don’t have to go through what Holden Caulfield had gone through.

For example in the beginning of the book he had a fight with his roommate over a girl he used to date named Jane Gallagher. Holden and his roommate had the fight because his roommate tried to make out with his ex-girl friend. Holden didn’t like the way his roommate acted so Holden knocked his roommate down. His roommate punched him in his face and gave him a bloody nose.

And on top of that he got expelled from a prep school.

His main problem was how to tell his parent he had been expelled from prep school. I think he went through four of his most complicated days in his life. Through those four days he a lot of things in his mind. From telling his parent why he got expelled from school, to finding a place to sleep.

Another complicated part of his life was the death of his little brother, Allie from leukemia. Although this happened at a young age in Holden’s life, he never really got over it.

I hope that I will never had to go through what he had gone through, especially in those four days.

The Catcher in the Rye was supposed to hide in the rye grass and protect children from falling over a cliff that was hidden. I think that Holden was wishing that he had a protector to help him with his problems.
