’s Childhood Essay, Research Paper
Patricia Lynch was born in Fairhill in Cork on June 4th, 1894. Patricia’s mother, Nora Lynch, a noted storyteller, filled Patricia’s early childhood with fascinating stories and folklore.
Patricia’s father had left Ireland to find his fortune in Egypt and while Patricia was still very young her mother and brother left to join him. Mrs. Hennessy, a noted seanacha? from the area looked after Patricia while her family was away.
When Patricia’s father died her mother and brother returned home to collect Patricia and then continued on their travels. Patricia was then educated in a number of different countries including Ireland, England, Scotland and Belgium.
She was at all times an enthusiastic reader and was later to acknowledge the influence of various other children’s writers, including E. Nesbit.
