Paddy Clarke
Paddy Clarke only at ten shows magnificent qualities of knowledge, curiosity and playfulness. This book basically states events that go on in Patrik’s mind hence we get a glimplse of his cherefull and mysterious thoughts
Patrik was brought up in a middle class family in the small town Barrytown in Ireland. Since his parents are not affluent, he doesn’t get what he wants but he always manages to be happy with what he gets and lives a content life without any worries. His old codrois, which were passed down to him for this cousins didn’t make a difference even though they had to be worn with a safety pin.
Patrik is a very mischieveis boy, but knows his limits. He messes around in class at times but doesn’t go over board. In class once he started making noises like WAA-CAH-CAH-CAH-CEHHH-CUH- while the woody woodpecker movie was playing. He also does mean things to his brother like the time he lighted his lips on fire.
The want of being the leader of group seems to be very prevalent among children of all times. Paddy also wants to be the leader of the group. The story of Father Damien influenced him tremendously and he wanted to be just like him and he made Sinbad a leaper falling at his feet for his affection. He didn’t want to tell Kevin about this, because then he’d end up a lepper and he wouldn’t have it his way.
Childeren are Children, what ever the time period, place children will always be and act the same. Always asking questions, wanting to know more and more and always experimentimenting on each other until they realize what is right. Paddy Clarke is just like every boy and we have got the oppertunity to see whats going on in his mind.
